Do Not Stay Here if Reliable A/C Is Important We booked a two-bedroom suite for a week-long family vacation, spending approximately $2,200 for our stay. Unfortunately, the air conditioning in our room did not work for the entire stay, and the hotel’s handling of the situation was extremely disappointing. Sunday: We reported the A/C issue and were told it would be fixed. Later that evening, when it still wasn’t working, we reported it again. A maintenance employee came to the room, worked on the unit, and told us he would return in about 45 minutes to check on it. He never came back. Monday: The A/C was still not working. We reported the issue again and were told maintenance would work on it while we were out for the day. We were also told they would call us with an update and, if the repair couldn’t be completed, they would explore moving us to another room. We never received a call. When we returned, we found a loud portable A/C unit in the room instead. When we expressed our frustration, management apologized and informed us that the room would not be rented again until the A/C was repaired. That immediately raised the question: if the room was known to have an A/C issue significant enough to take it out of service, why was it rented to us in the first place? The only compensation offered was a possible waiver of parking fees, worth roughly $100. For a $2,200 stay that involved multiple nights without functioning A/C, that response felt completely inadequate. The hotel itself was otherwise nice, but guests should not have to repeatedly follow up on a basic issue like air conditioning. Sleeping in a warm room for multiple nights and then dealing with a noisy portable unit made for a very uncomfortable experience. What was most frustrating was the repeated lack of follow-through: promises were made, updates were promised, and none of them happened unless we initiated the conversation. Based on this experience, I would not stay here again and cannot recommend it to others.

I travel for work a lot, and try to stay in Hilton hotels as much as possible. If you travel a lot you get it. Breakfast is a big factor and Homewood Suites is not at the top of the line, but this one is different. This is by far the best Homewood breakfast in the country. Hilton management should look closely at this one and update the rest.

We visited Carlsbad to see our daughter and new granddaughter. This hotel was a short drive from their apartment. There was a free breakfast every morning that had something for everyone, and the menu options changed each day. The clerks at the front desk were amazing- I've never met nicer people. The room was perfect, beds and pillows were so comfortable. We were able to get a complimentary late check out when we left. When we visit again, this is hands down the only place we'll stay. Location, staff and breakfast were great. Unfortunately checked out a day earlier which should have been a 4 day stay. This is a pet friendly location, dogs in rooms bark continuous throughtout the day & night and are placed in various rooms throughout the location (there should be designed areas of the hotel that are pet friendly only) walls are thin, so you hear people on each side of the walls (screaming, crying kids and loud TV's were untolerable) couldn't hear our own TV in front of us, people above us on 2nd floor could also can be heard. Disappointing.

It was a great stay. I have stayed here a few times. My last visit my ac wasnt working. The staff quickly took care of the issue. Everyone here is pleasant and always willing to help.

The suites are spacious and the location is convenient for families and longer stays in the Carlsbad area. The room layout and kitchen setup are practical and comfortable. However, the service and overall guest experience were disappointing. Housekeeping was very poor. I requested cleaning several times, but there was no response or follow-up. Basic amenities were also missing — no toothbrush or toothpaste available, and no complimentary water bottles at check-in, which is below the standard expected from a Hilton property. Parking is another issue. The lot is almost always full, and the spaces are extremely tight, making it stressful to park. Additionally, some front desk staff were not attentive and seemed to need better training in guest service. Even simple requests were not handled properly — Cold coffee in the lobby, also there was no hot water available. With better housekeeping management, improved staff training, and attention to basic guest amenities, this hotel could provide a much better experience. Unfortunately, my stay did not meet Hilton standards.

Great stay while visiting Legoland. The drive is about 7mins to the park. Rooms are nice and clean. Free breakfast was better then I expected and really convenient when traveling with little ones. The staff was so nice too.

This was easily the most disgusting hotel I’ve ever been to. When we arrived to our room, I pulled back the bed sheets to find giant yellow stains all over?. There were also hairs and dirt in the shower. I’m not even sure this room had been cleaned before our arrival. It was 2am and we had little kids so we had to try to make do with what we could. We decided to call and request new sheets. When they dropped them off we found that these ones were 1. The wrong size and 2. Also yellow stained? The cherry on tops here were the extremely limited parking due to all the construction happing on the hotel and the elevator trying to go up without closing the door. 0/10 would NOT recommend this place

When we arrived at the hotel, the exterior, facilities, and room interior were different from the pictures. The pool is tiny, and not sure if the water pump is running because the water does not look clear Our room has a moldy smell, but we think it's OK since it's gone after the AC runs. The furniture is kinda rundown, like the sofa and the chairs are sunken in like old grandma furniture. Our dishwasher is not working, and after a few attempts, I was asked to troubleshoot by myself, with no in-house engineer. We ended up in another room the next day, which is weird, as it looks newer than our previous room. But again the bathroom shower doesn't work properly. The faucet and the head shower run at the same time, no matter whether I pull or push the knob on the faucet. Also, we found dirt, crumbs, or hair a couple of times after the room was cleaned when we got back. We cut short our stay and moved to a different hotel since we are traveling with a baby. But the only good thing is their staff are super nice and helpful.

We stayed at Homewood Suites Carlsbad and had a nice experience overall. The location is definitely a highlight—very close to LEGOLAND and also just a short drive to the beach, which made it convenient for our family. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable with spacious rooms that worked well for us. The included breakfast was okay—not outstanding, but enough to get the day started. Staff was friendly and check-in was smooth. Overall, a good option for families visiting the area and looking for comfort with easy access to local attractions.
