Read before you book. The place is decent but there are definitely better hotels around for the price you pay. There is no beach access, it’s all gated off because it’s the cliffs. You’ll have to travel to get to the beach but no big deal. The rooms were okay, no carpet which was a plus. Very terrible water pressure. We went to the pool and there were clumps of hair floating in the pool, strong chemical smells and soooo dirty. My skin on my hands started peeling off about 20 minutes after we left the pool. Only reason I’m giving 3 stars is because once I notified the front desk, they did upgrade us to their sister property at no additional charge. They absolutely did not have to do that but they cared & I am very appreciative of that. Probably won’t be back to this hotel but I’ll definitely be back at their sister property!

Location obviously is amazing being across from the beach. Hotel is right between two great beaches for kids. Lobby is nice and restaurant staff were great. Parking was $27/night. On the west side of the train tracks and our son loved seeing them go by. Cute courtyard with yard games our son loved running around. Our room definitely needed some updates though. The floors which were lvp or laminate, were all bubbling up and looked bad, and felt not great under your feet right when you walked in. We had two queens and one of them was pretty droopy near the edges, should definitely get out of the mattress rotation. We got a good deal on a staycation which is why we came but we left a night early just cause it wasn't as comfortable/relaxing as we hoped. For the price definitely worth it, good for kids, location, etc. Just hope they give a modest update to the rooms if they are similar to our experience.

I love coming here, the rooms are fine enough for the pricing. But it's really the location and the interaction with the staff that really keeps me coming back. I love being able to go for a run by the beach in the morning. I've never had their breakfast as I never eat before 10am but I will say it always smells delicious. The only downside are when there are groups that come in and sometimes they can be out late, but its never caused me enough issue to complain to anyone. I always have great interactions with Jay, he's always overly accommodating with any little request I happen to have. Alicia has always helped me out. She works overnight and she will see me periodically when I can't sleep. Not only is she so compassionate with people (I lost my daughter 3 years ago and I'm sure she's heard me tell it a number of times but never acts as if its a bother), she's so wonderful with animals. I was there when she saved that little wiener dog! We've had many a chat about the world and how it doesn't really take anything to be kind to one another. She truly has such a gentle heart and it's wonderful that there are still people like her! Above all, it's always a good place to stay and I usually recommend it our company for our trips to the west coast.

Skylaar and Alisha at the front desk were absolutely delightful. From the moment we arrived, they were welcoming, kind and genuinely pleasant to deal with. We weren’t too happy with the first room we were given, and they went out of their way to accommodate us with a much better beach view room, which really made a difference in our stay. They made us feel heard and taken care of. You can tell they truly cared or at least did an amazing job making it feel that way, which honestly matters just as much when you’re staying somewhere. They helped make our stay much more pleasant and we really appreciated their kindness and professionalism. Thank you ladies!

We booked our reservation through Chase Travel for an ocean view room. Upon check-in there was no mention that the room we'd be given was not an ocean view. It was barely even a partial ocean view. I contacted Chase Travel about it and they lied to Chase Travel stating we declined a room on the first floor with ocean view (why would anyone decline the room they paid for?). While we were on the phone, the agent told us the hotel could relocate us to a different room on the first floor and during the call the facilities staff knocked our door. I told them to hold as I was on the phone and the agent was shocked they even came to us as we did not confirm or deny any changes. Two strikes. At this point I did not want to deal with this problem as my wife was pregnant and we only had one night booked. Upon checking out, they attempted to bill us for two nights of parking. Lastly, the beds are incredibly uncomfortable and the hotel layout is confusing. While the location is great and secluded, the experience was terrible. Do not recommend.

Had a heck of a day traveling from the PNW to Carlsbad. Got in later than we wanted to and checked in with Andrew. What a breath of fresh air he was after a long day of travel. He greeted us with a smile and quickly got us through the process to get to our room. He is exactly the kind of person travelers/guests want to meet when checking into their rooms. Thank you Andrew!

8pm Monday March 2nd. I called the front desk to confirm my 4pm checkout and the woman at the front desk, who refused to disclose her name but I believe was Skyler, said that I’ll have to pay for another night if I want a late checkout, which is absurd. I explain that I’m a diamond member and have never had a problem getting a late checkout, she responds in an extremely condescending and rude tone that maybe I’ve gotten that at other properties but I won’t get that here, “hun”. I told her I don’t appreciate her rude tone and being called “hun” and she decides she’s going to fight back and tell me that it’s actually not rude and she can say whatever she wants. As someone who travels 2/3rds out of the year and practically lives out of a hotel I have NEVER experienced front desk staff be so rude, condescending, and downright unprofessional. Stay elsewhere if you’re a Diamond member.

I had requested special room requirements and these were accurately entered by the reservation rep. When I checked in, Andrew reviewed my request and ensured that my room worked for me. I had a room overlooking the ocean and the amenities covered my needs for the stay. Andrew has an excellent customer service attitude and a great sense of humor. Later I asked him for more information about the area and he gave me help finding the items I needed for my work. Later I dined in the restaurant and Craig was covering the bar and restaurant. He helped me alter my meal to accommodate special diet requirements. He checked in to make sure everything worked for me. Overall the service met my needs, it's a great location and I would recommend this hotel.

Staff very helpful. Food choices were few. One person running the the bar and serving the all the tables was a bust. You need to supply more help. A big reason we spent our money outside the hotel. Communication was excellant. No problem returning.

Found property due to a birthday celebration. A good venue for a private party for 150-200 people. Detached from the hotel makes loading and unloading easy for vendors. Staff was friendly and very responsive to provide assistance. Not too many hotels allow outside food but they do!
