We booked a two-night stay here on a spontaneous trip, and it was one of the best decisions we made. Don't judge this place by its exterior; it may look a bit dated from the outside, but the inside is a completely different story with room clean and comfortable. The location was fantastic, and our room was literally right on the beach. The service was outstanding, and the breakfast checked all the boxes: it looked appetizing, tasted delicious, and offered plenty of healthy options.

My favorite place to stay in Carlsbad. The oceanfront rooms are amazing with great views via the full size wall of windows. One of the few places where you are on the beach and not across the street (less noise from traffic and more ocean sounds). In the thick of all the shops and restaurants where is all very walkable for all ages.

Great hotel on the beach in Carlsbad. Walking distance to all the downtown restaurants. This hotel offers oceanfront rooms with balconies so you can enjoy easy access to the beach and the sounds of the ocean all day. They have a nice pool with fire pits. The beach in front of the hotel and they provide chairs, umbrellas, and towels. They even have beach toys for the kids. The breakfast they offer is outstanding and come with the price of the room. Their awesome, friendly staff will get you set up with everything you need.

Right on the beach sitting on the balcony watching children play in the sand and surfers trying to catch small waves. Yes, that was our stay in Carlsbad. We had a beautifull room and comfortable bed. The staff were fantastic and really went the extra mile. A light breakfast in the morning made our stay perfect.

Our family had a great stay here. The room was spacious and clean. Great view of the pool and ocean. They provide everything needed for the beach. Breakfast was great and different selections each day. Will certainly be back anytime we are in the area.

We had a wonderful experience at this unique boutique hotel right on the beach. So many wonderful amenities. The light breakfast was tasty and be sure and enjoy the scones from a local bakery. I loved our bed very comfy with high count linens. I appreciated the clean room and facilities.

My husband and I have stayed twice. We absolutely love it. The staff is so kind and helpful. The rooms are spacious. Very comfortable beds and pillows. The complimentary breakfast is fresh and tasty. The brunchy menu items are fantastic. The location is walking distance to restaurants and shops. I appreciated the sweet message left on the door from the staff member Michelle wishing us a happy anniversary.

Had an awesome time here! The staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Definitely made my stay better. The views were stunning

Dear Beach Terrace Hotel Team, We wanted to extend our heartfelt thanks to you for your incredible kindness and care. During our recent stay, my husband accidentally left behind his very expensive diabetes medication in the refrigerator, stored in a special travel case. We truly believed it was gone for good, so you can imagine our surprise—and relief—when it arrived safely in the mail. We have been long-time guests of the Beach Terrace for over 10 years, and moments like this are exactly why we continue to return. Your thoughtfulness, honesty, and genuine care for your guests go far beyond expectations and truly set you apart. Thank you for once again reminding us why the Beach Terrace feels like a home away from home. We are deeply grateful. With sincere appreciation, Nicole & Zak

Every interaction with the staff feels personal, thoughtful, and deeply attentive - it’s the kind of hospitality that instantly makes you feel at home and truly cared for. The location is unbeatable: the hotel sits right next to the ocean, so you wake up and fall asleep to the sound of the waves. With the beach just steps away, it gives you that rare, effortless coastal experience that’s both relaxing and energizing. The rooms are spacious, airy, and beautifully maintained, offering plenty of room to unwind. The interior design throughout the hotel is understated, tasteful, and calming - there’s a very timid, serene atmosphere that makes the entire space feel like a peaceful hideaway. But above all, it’s the fantastic service that truly elevates the Beach Terrace Hotel. It’s clear that the team loves what they do, and they go above and beyond to ensure every guest feels valued. In short: A stunning location, beautifully designed spaces, spacious rooms, and absolutely outstanding service make this hotel a standout gem in Carlsbad. Highly recommended.
