The Beach Terrace Hotel in Carlsbad is truly exceptional. From the moment you arrive, you’re welcomed with outstanding, genuinely warm service that sets the tone for the entire stay. The location is unbeatable: the hotel sits right next to the ocean, so you wake up and fall asleep to the sound of the waves. With the beach just steps away, it gives you that rare, effortless coastal experience that’s both relaxing and energizing. The rooms are spacious, airy, and beautifully maintained, offering plenty of room to unwind. The interior design throughout the hotel is understated, tasteful, and calming - there’s a very timid, serene atmosphere that makes the entire space feel like a peaceful hideaway. But above all, it’s the fantastic service that truly elevates the Beach Terrace Hotel. It’s clear that the team loves what they do, and they go above and beyond to ensure every guest feels valued. If you're looking for relaxing experience where everything is close and you don't have to leave the hotel if you don't want to, Beach Terrace is it! ALL of the staff was super sweet, amenities were great, room was clean and comfortable. It's in the Carlsbad village so we could walk to most places. And if you're looking just to enjoy the beach and not really be bothered, the ocean facing rooms with the panoramic view, worth every penny! On days the beach was a little more crowded or we just didnt feel like peopling, we sat on the patio and got the same experience, probably better because were were on the 2nd floor, saw dolphins twice and being able to hear the ocean all night??. We had some minor issues with the room but when I tell you the fixed it IMMEDIATELY and were sure to work around our schedule so they weren't inconveniencing us in any way. They were sure to check in a few times after to make sure everything was good and we were happy. And even though it truly was not a big deal to us because things happen, they were sure to take care of us for the hassle, which was not needed but appreciated! I could go on and on, from the minute we checked in, the staff made sure we were well taken care of and enjoyed the experience. We had to wait a bit before check in and they give you a list of resturants in the area. We're vegan, so the lady gave a great recommendation and by the time we got back she had gone through the long list of resturants and confirmed which ones had vegan options for us! That's the type of service we received the entire trip. 10/10 recommend, we enjoyed every minute of this trip and can't wait to go back! *the pics are the view from our room?

The location is the only real highlight of this hotel, it’s right in front of the beach, which makes it very convenient for ocean lovers. Unfortunately, the rooms themselves are quite run down and far from luxurious. The lighting is very dim, the bathroom door was rotten, and both the air conditioner and coffee machine were rusted (the AC was also very loud). On a positive note, the mattress and pillows were surprisingly comfortable, which made sleeping easier despite the room’s condition. Overall, I’d only recommend staying here if you care more about direct beach access than comfort or quality. Next time, I’d rather stay somewhere nicer and just make the short drive to the beach.

I am absolutely thrilled that we decided to venture off the beaten path and skip the usual chain hotel or Airbnb. This enchanting boutique hotel was a true gem, and we were eager to experience something unique and extraordinary, especially since we were celebrating our 24th wedding anniversary. The property is breathtakingly beautiful and impeccably maintained. Michelle was incredibly helpful, friendly, and courteous during the check-in process. The rooms appeared to have been recently renovated, exuding a sense of freshness and modernity. Our oceanfront room boasted a private balcony and a king-size bed, while the suite itself was spacious and the bathroom was equally impressive. The pictures fail to capture the essence of this incredible space, and it's something that must be experienced firsthand. We were delighted by the impeccable cleanliness and attention to detail in our room. The hotel offers a plethora of amenities for guests to enjoy. A heartfelt note from the staff, accompanied by chocolates, wishing us a happy anniversary, was a touching gesture that left a lasting impression. Whenever we desired solitude, we retreated to our private balcony, and on other occasions, we lounged by the pool or gathered around the fire pit. Our week-long stay was nothing short of phenomenal, and The Beach Terrace has earned a permanent spot on our list of favorite properties to revisit, especially since we frequently visit Carlsbad to escape the Arizona heat. Kudos to The Beach Terrace staff, who consistently demonstrated warmth and hospitality throughout our stay.

Right on the beach with 24 access. Can’t beat that. Beach valet was very accommodating. Front desk was pleasant. One building does have an elevator there other does not so be aware when booking. Worth it if you only staying on the beach like us. Only left in the evening to eat. They do offer a cute little breakfast and when you book through third party you pay the resort fees at the hotel. My family really enjoyed our family vacation. Can’t wait to go back

Amazing place! Can't get a better view. Right on the beach literally. Loved the staff, rooms and the included petite breakfast was delicious. Pool was heated and clean. Beach valet was attentive. They have a pillow menu! Only downside is you can't use the amenities until you actually have a room but they were able to check us in a few hours before regular check in. Can't wait to go back!

We absolutely loved it here. We had an ocean front room with no issues at all, tons of pillow options, and coffee makers. The petite breakfast was very well done. We enjoyed every minute of our stay here. The only thing I was caught off guard by (and it is not a big deal at all!) was the beach isn’t sandy most of the time. It changes based on the ocean but mostly it’s a very rocky beach. It didn’t affect our time on the beach in any way, I was just surprised. The staff are helpful and welcoming. We will be back!

I would give this beautiful hotel 5 stars but be aware! When you book through a third party site the hotel charges an additional $50 at check in for the “amenities” aka using the basics of a hotel…AND no one said a thing about it to us at check in and I had to discover it from my bank after the fact. Would have appreciated some transparency when booking it at and at the absolute least when checking in.
