If you're staying in Carlsbad, it's hard to beat the Carlsbad Inn and Resort. The location is excellent, the rooms are large and comfortable, and there are a ton of great restaurants in easy walking distance. And of course, there's the beach! the Carlsbad Inn gets all 5 stars in my book.

My family and I have been coming to Carlsbad Beach Resort twice a year for over 13 years, and it truly is our home away from home. The staff has watched our children grow from babies into teenagers, and that personal connection is something you can’t put a price on. One thing we’ve always appreciated is that management listens to owner feedback. This past December, during the Thursday “Coffee with the GM” meeting, I suggested adding another check in station during busy arrival days. When we arrived this past Saturday, it was wonderful to see an extra person helping with check in. The difference was noticeable, and the long lines from past visits were gone. If this change came from owner feedback, thank you to Randy and the team for listening. The location remains unbeatable. Being steps from the beach and enjoying time with family is why we continue returning year after year. This visit started with a small hiccup when our room wasn’t ready until 4:30 PM. Delays happen, but an update or apology would have been appreciated. When we entered the room, the cleaning chemical smell was very strong, and we had to air it out for about an hour before settling in. As always, the Welcome Breakfast was wonderful. A special thank you to Janelle, whose smile and warm welcome always make owners feel at home. Sangria Saturday was fantastic as well and continues to be one of our favorite events. The Sunday Welcome Back Party is always enjoyable, and we appreciate the live music and snacks. One suggestion I hope management considers is updating the music selections. When we first started coming here, I was in my late 20s and among the younger owners. Today, many owners are now in their 40s and 50s. If I’m being honest, many of us would enjoy music from the 1990s and 2000s, but as an olive branch, could we at least move up 30 years and include more 1980s music? Nostalgia changes with each generation. Bingo night was a huge hit, and we even won. I also love the switch from Domino’s to a local pizza company. The upgrade was definitely worth it. A special shoutout to Karla, who did an amazing job hosting bingo. She remembered my family even though she only joined last year. The room was packed with over 40 people, and while she had help checking people in at the beginning, it looked like she was handling most of the event herself. She kept the games moving, managed music and prizes, and did it all with a smile. It did feel like there was pressure to keep things moving faster than in previous years, which may be part of a new direction under the new GM. I also noticed snacks were not replenished as they had been in prior years. These aren’t complaints, just observations as the resort evolves. Regardless, Karla knocked it out of the park. Another thank you goes to Claudia at the front desk. We’ve known her since her activities days, and it has been wonderful watching her grow into a leadership role. She always remembers our family and takes great care of us. We’re both glad and a little sad to hear about Randy’s retirement, and we wish him all the best. The new General Manager seems very pleasant, and we’re excited to see the future of the resort. One area that could use improvement is communication regarding parking during this past weekend’s road or pavement work. We understand maintenance is necessary, but there was some confusion among owners about parking on Saturday through Monday. Better communication ahead of time would have been helpful. Overall, after 13 years, Carlsbad Beach Resort truly feels like family. This feedback comes from a place of appreciation because we want to see this special place continue to thrive for many years to come.

Love this location and Carlsbad. Have been owners for many years. Service levels? Rooms are nice and clean. Do a great job with overall resort maintenance. Little irritations with technology and internet. Pool and hot tub pretty crowded so hard to use and be able to relax and enjoy. Love the music on specific days. Nice to have parking. Nice that beach chairs, beach towels, toys and umbrellas are provided.

We spent 4 days at Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort and had a great experience overall. The resort itself is beautiful, well-maintained, and has a really relaxed vibe that made it easy to unwind. Our room was cozy, comfortable, and conveniently located with easy access to the pool, which was a big plus. Everything felt thoughtfully laid out and very accessible. One of the highlights is the location — you’re just steps from the beach with super easy access, and also within walking distance to downtown Carlsbad with plenty of restaurants and things to do. Overall, a fantastic stay. Would definitely come back, especially for a relaxed family trip.

Stayed for a week in early March with my wife in a one bedroom unit. Pros: - Location - easy walking to beach (beach chairs, umbrella available), nearby restaurants (some great), coffee, ample parking, easy to get to off main interstate. - Facilities - both pool and whirlpool/hot tub are enclosed in glass. Since avg temp in early March is only low 60s the glass blocks winds and makes the pool areas area feel warm. Also, coffee in lobby each morning is nice as well as filtered water in hotel building to fill up water bottles. Has gas grills and washers/dryers available. - Room - . Unit had all we needed to make breakfast/lunch. Cons: - Facilities - ~$30/day for "resort fees" for non-owners. - Room - Small for a 1 bedroom but enough for two of us. Room sleeps 4 (using sofa sleeper) but really would only work for small children. Carpet is getting worn. Bathroom has a motion-sensor to turn light on which was annoying. Summary: We'd return due to the great location and good facilities

The dishwasher gives off a horrible smell. The front door light strobes, we weren’t given enough blankets or pillows. Getting more toilet paper was like pulling teeth. The pull out sofa is horrible we went to Walmart to buy a mattress topper for the bed. The rollaway bed is just a bunch of springs. The room has a damp odor that doesn’t go away unless the fan is always running. The patio looks out into a wall. What does a $30 amenity cover because all the activities cost more money. The washer and dryer suck. One washer just poured water onto the floor and maintenance didn’t do anything when called. 2 of the dryers don’t dry. Why does this cost money anyway. Wouldn’t it be covered under I don’t know a resort fee. There is insufficient handicap parking for a resort that caters to the elderly. The elevator needs maintence. The manager gave off chauvinistic vibes telling a female employee to smile. The hot tub was nice and the proximity to the beach.

Such a cute hotel that really feels homey. Location is perfect - you can walk to downtown but also right next to the beach. Everything was clean and they had so many activities and stuff to do. Only bad thing was they did not have housekeeping during our stay.

I loved this place before our current trip. We rent a place here to vacation with family who own a timeshare. After this experience we will never come back. We were initially told they didn’t have a space for us in the timeshare side because they had double booked, so they put us in the hotel. That wasn’t a big deal. However, today we were told we needed to move from our suite into a 2 queen single room. We booked a suite. Now we are in a small single room which isn’t very convenient when you need a space for 7 people to hang out. Management was completely unhelpful and didn’t care. Completely ruined our plans for today. DONT STAY HERE! They absolutely will not help you and will screw up your plans.

This is our second year of owing a unit. The room is large and updated. The kitchen is complete. The bedroom is a good size with comfortable king bed. The bathroom has a large shower and the living room is very comfortable. Minutes from the beach minutes away. There is a pool in the middle of the resort.

While the resort shows its beach wear in some places…overall stay was excellent. Rooms are highly maintained and supplied. Housekeeping very attentive. Front desk helpful. And location can’t be beat! We will be back!
