The Hilton Grand Vacations Club MarBrisa Carlsbad offers a convenient location near Legoland and provides ample amenities like multiple pools, a waterslide, and outdoor games. However, recent reviews highlight inconsistent service, cleanliness issues, and high parking fees, leading to a mixed guest experience.
Great location if you're going to Legoland. They give you a private entrance pass to enter the park from the back. Having a full kitchen was amazing! The room we had, 6912A, was gigantic. Our 7 year old twins shared the pullout sofa bed and we had our own private bedroom space with a bathtub. Large bathroom with a shower and two sinks. Great pools, waterslide, outside games (foosball, pingpong, corn hole, pool), and a little playground. The only negative remarks I have about the room was the bed was firm and I could hear neighboring rooms using water, walking, and opening drawers until 12:30 at night. I got virtually no sleep the first night. The second night I used a sound machine, took sleeping meds and turned the ac fan to auto so it ran all night and muffled exterior sounds.
Everything was good room was perfect and clean but they put a conditioner in a shampoo bottle. The provide us a presentation on a club card something. The presentation was great but here’s the thing the lady who showed us the condo after telling her we’re not buying she acted a bit rude. After going to get out gift . Kathy gave us the last offer and we rejected it she acted really rude and pointed at the door? Please it’s our decision to buy or not? I hope you guys can teach her some manners with customers. And the guy in the front desk was really nice.
Great place to stay. Great pools. Very usable workout facility. Nicely located (but not ocean front). Very comfortable. Stayed here half a dozen times. We will keep coming back. Highly recommended.
Check in was terrible. Took over 45 mins. With 3 people working the counter. Two other staff members were just standing behind another desk yapping the whole time. There was complimentary popcorn though during our wait. The lobby was also dirty and messy due to popcorn being all over the floor. After about 30 minutes of waiting, we were offered some cheap champagne and were told they did not expect this many people checking in on a Monday as if there system doesn't see any of the reservations.... It was a little busy but it was also taking 10-15 mins per party to get checked in once they got to the counter. The room is decent for a 3 start hotel. The balcony was a nice touch. The room itself could use some fresh paint for sure and the bed offered zero support, same with the down/feather pillows. The towels were also only a step up from using a bristol pad to dry off with. We did not try any of the restaurants at the resort, they all looked like they had potential. However, they did seem to be over priced for what they offered. The cove looked like it had the best potential, but the Google hours listed are incorrect. The place is only open Friday-Monday. While at the pool on a Tuesday we saw at least 10 guests walk up to the restaurant and were just as confused as we were. With multiple employees just standing around by the restaurant, seems like there are losing some revenue there. The only saving grace was the amount of pools, hot tubs, grilling areas, and bon fire pits. You can really find some peace and quiet if that is what you are looking for (at least during the week). There are also activities that go on every day of the week that encourage visitors to bond with one another if that is your thing... In the words of the great Randy Jackson... It's a no for me, dawg Thanks for joining my ted talk.
I had an awesome experience, the rooms were nice, the pool area was amazing, so good in fact I lost my kid, and one of the lifeguards Lenny, awesome dude by the way, helped me spot my son, my son mentioned he loved the slide area, the drinks are also very top notch, the bar is was also enjoyable, Michael was the bartender when I went, he made sure I had napkins and some good grub, and the price for everything was reasonable 10/10 I would recommend and come back in the near future. A couple things to note, large pool, a couple hot tubs, lots of fire pits, and even a large fire pit. Every person I had the pleasure speaking to was kind and considerate, luckily I didn’t have to involve any managers, no escalations, just pure serenity, and some background music as well.
This was honestly one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had. We completed pre-check-in and were assigned a first-floor room. Upon arrival, we were told it was not ready. Later we received a text saying our room was ready, so we drove back — only to be assigned a completely different room in another building on the second floor. I am a disabled veteran and retired Fire Captain, and my wife has an injured knee. We specifically needed a first-floor room for accessibility reasons. On the second day, when I contacted guest services to ask why we were moved, we were told the reason was that the elevator in the building of our original first-floor room was broken — yet we had been initially assigned a first-floor room in that same building. Ironically, the elevator in the building we were moved to broke the following day. The room itself was very dated and poorly maintained: • Paint chips and sloppy paint work (not cut in along edges) • Bugs inside light fixtures • Missing screws in fixtures • Thermostat cover missing • Rust and dirt on the toilet paper holder • TV was not a smart TV • DirectTV box had intermittent connection issues • Hot tub did not work (no signage posted, and it still wasn’t working the next night) There was also a dirty sock left on the sidewalk outside for two days while housekeeping and maintenance staff repeatedly walked past it. During our stay, my wife became sick and vomited, which only added to the stress of an already frustrating experience. I attempted to speak with the manager but was told he was “having a busy morning.” My number was taken, but instead of the manager calling, another employee contacted me three hours later asking if there was anything they could do. I specifically requested to speak with the manager and never received that courtesy. This stay was part of a promotional package to attend a Hilton Grand Vacations presentation. We raised our concerns again during the presentation and were told they would “make it right.” Nothing was done. This is Carlsbad. This is marketed as a resort. I have stayed in basic motor inns that were cleaner, better maintained, and better managed. Extremely disappointing experience.
This was our first time at Mar Brisa. We stayed in a 2 bedroom lock-off unit. It was a nice room with plenty of space for the 4 of us. We also liked that there was a private entrance to Legoland. This was convenient for us because we can just leave the property and walk the trail and head into Legoland.
The staff at MarBrisa are genuinely nice and welcoming, and the hotel itself is overall clean and well maintained. The property has a pleasant feel and housekeeping standards were solid throughout the stay. That said, there were a couple of disappointments. There was no indication that Gold status carried any meaningful recognition or benefit during the stay. While this isn’t a major issue, it was noticeable that the status seemed to have no impact or acknowledgment at all. The biggest drawback by far is the parking fee. At $38 USD per day (roughly $60 CAD), the cost is excessive and painful, especially converted. This is a price you would expect to pay for valet in downtown San Francisco or New York. This fee honestly made me regret staying here as it was almost a third of the cost of the stay. Overall, a clean hotel with friendly staff, but the parking cost alone would make me think twice before booking again.
I visited here for the first time in six years, and it’s my favorite place after the Big Island of Hawaii. The woman at the front desk was friendly and courteous throughout, which made my stay even more enjoyable. Although some services have been reduced, I was still very satisfied. I’ll definitely come back again.
It's a great resort. We've been going there for years and have even bought one of our timeshares there. It's a great location in North County and right next to Legoland. We used to bring the kids there when they were younger, but not so much anymore. We enjoy the quiet, the pools are fantastic. It's like a home away from home. All condos, from studios all the way up to a 3 bedroom.
